Chicago bred and Asheville based Blues singer / guitarist / song writer Mr Jimmy is pleased to announce the release of his new album, “All Alone With the Blues”.
Jimmy wrote, produced and recorded all ten of the songs on the record. He started the solo project as a demo to get gigs when he moved from Chicago to Asheville in 2018, but when the pandemic hit, and all the gigs dried up, he took the downtime to complete the album.
The title cut is a reflection on transitioning from a band leader of the Chicago Kingsnakes trio for 35 years to the adjustment of now performing solo. The album includes electric and acoustic Blues, some slide guitar, shuffles, boogies, slow and funky tunes, foot stomping and even a Latin tinged instrumental entitled “Chil Con Queso”.
The album is available in CD format and on amazon.com for retail and will soon be available for streaming on all sites internationally.

During the show of the 16th of July 2020 I was asked why I had put in a few songs from Mr Jimmy from the album Alone with the blues. And the question struck me a bit for it seemed obvious to me. Let me tell you why.
It is great fun to play songs in the show that make listeners aware of the quality, of the sounds, of the lyrics and of the variation. Well putting Mr, Jimmy in was simple scoring on all these items. And moreover with his rather unique way of doing the songs without much need for anything else than his playing and his voice it is an oasis to insert in the show to give the pure sound of the blues from me to the very centre of your heart. At least that is what I try to do with the program every week. Putting some good blues from my tiny studio into your Living Room.
Let’s go into the album a bit and see if you may agree with my remarks.
A long way from Joliet: A song that picks up with a uptime theme that grabs you instantly. Wanting to get back to my baby, that’s what a man is supposed to do. Then an intermediate part and back to the original theme. Simple but very much an ear ringer.
All alone with the blues: The title track of the album. A song you have to hear a couple of times to really appreciate it. But if you do the simple theme does not leave you alone anymore. The deepest thoughts when listening to the lyrics gives you a feeling that you are going with the flow of Mr. Jimmy.
Best Friend blues: A blues song that goes right back to very core of old blues. Sitting on the porch and just relaxing in the rocking chair playing the guitar and singing the blues. Traditional simple but very catching. Within mind the theme to be in love with your best friend.
Chili Con Queso: A title that does not ring a bell right away, but the music and intro immediately is asking for more. And more you get. Nice electric guitar theme. All instrumental.
Geneva: Picking up the slide guitar the songs gives you a different sound. Moaning Geneva come back home, I need you baby, please come back home. The suffering of a lost love. Just a one man piece of work.
Lefty: With a song like this you almost see Mr. Jimmy sitting on stage playing his solo slide blues. Could easily be a better sounding old RCA record. Comparing Lightning Hopkins, Brownie Mc Ghee and his equals. Something the blues lovers appreciating old school blues may find very delightful.
Low and Slow: The title says it all.
Playing for Tips: Just imaging him sitting on a sunny afternoon. Hat in front of him and hoping the passenger by is willing to tip. Please be kind. In my opinion it should with this album out not be necessary J.
Sick and Tired: Also a nice piece of work. Great to be able to make the real blues sound being a soloist. You can very well hear the dragging sound that simulates sick and tired. A song to check for yourselves.
South Side Soul: A nice twelve bar blues composition everybody who plays the guitar is eager to play right along with Mr. Jimmy to have a ball and a good Jam. A nice welcoming instrumental with some welcoming licks.
Be sure you do not miss out to listen to the album carefully and appreciate the honest way it is made. Have fun with it
